Why Don’t Republicans Care about the well-being of America?

Every candidate on the Republican side for president of the United States continually and repeatedly calls for the reduction or elimination of all government regulations. So make no mistake, what they are saying is that they want more things like the Listeria outbreak in Colorado cantaloupes that has killed at least 16 people and made over 70 more sick. It is only stronger regulations, and better enforced regulations that will prevent such things and protect the American people, which is to the good of all of us. The Republicans are only concerned with protecting corporate profits and with that the shareholders profits (and remember, as I have pointed out many times, it is really only the very wealthy who are stockholders).

When will the American people wake up and realize that the Republicans really don’t care at all about them? Admittedly, it is hard, as the Democrats don’t care much about them either, and at least with the Democrats, the people still have a chance. With the Republicans, well, as we’ve seen in the debates and the crowd reactions, Alan Grayson was right when he said the Republicans health plan is if you get sick, just die faster.

Jim, I’m sure you might find this extreme and maybe even incendiary, and sometimes when this stuff happens, I just have to call a spade a spade.

About JP

We're two guys who met in college, in 1980. We've stayed in touch, and like to talk politics, current events, music and religion. JP is nore liberal than Sid, but not in every way. We figure that dialogue stimulates ideas, moderates perspective, and is in general friendly. These are things we need badly in these dangerous times. The blog name is taken from a song by Bruce Cockburn.
