First of all, I challenge you, JP to make a prediction, too.
Next, how I arrived at my prediction.
The criterion is “who affected the year’s news the most.” The news has been dominated by several themes: Partisan politics in America. Occupy Wall Street. The European financial crisis. The Republican primary. The Arab Spring. The Global Recession. And several more issues, but these are my picks for the biggies.
Which of these issues has the greatest effect on the most people? Well, one issue has affected American partisan politics, threatens global financial stability, is the largest determiner to the American stock market. Which in turn affects the occupiers, ticked off that financiers and rich people care naught about their lot. It has deep parallels in several countries. That is issue is the European financial crisis.
Who is the face on that? Angela Merkel. And she has risen to the challenge, becoming a voice of strength among weak economies, a strong negotiator among major powers. She is the ultimate face to receive ire of entitled Europeans.
My second choice is the fruit vending guy who burned himself in Tunisia and touched off the Arab Spring.
