one more point on compromise

We also have to remember that the final health care bill that was passed was not passed with great compromise or bipartisan support. It was passed when the Democrats still controlled both houses of congress, and the vote was almost completely along party lines. You can call it a compromise, and when zero Republicans in the House voted for it, I find that hard to define as compromise working.
The current Republican party has made quite clear they have utterly no interest in compromise. The Senate minority leader has made quite clear and explicit that he cares not about the country, but only cares about making Obama a one term president. He essentially has dismissed any idea of compromise out of hand.

About JP

We're two guys who met in college, in 1980. We've stayed in touch, and like to talk politics, current events, music and religion. JP is nore liberal than Sid, but not in every way. We figure that dialogue stimulates ideas, moderates perspective, and is in general friendly. These are things we need badly in these dangerous times. The blog name is taken from a song by Bruce Cockburn.
