Whose Side are they On?

Krugman has a great column today pointing out the obvious, that the Republicans are denying science, denying the use of our God-given intelligence, and celebrating willful ignorance. And for what? I guess because they’ve worked for a generation to dumb down our country and now they think they can capitalize by getting cheap votes from those they have dumbed down. To what end? Power and money for their own sake. In the short-term. You get a bigger house sure, and it is sad to see the kind of country they want to bequeath to their children. Jim Hightower makes a similar point, specifically about the silly light bulb “controversy.” I mean, really, this is what the right considers controversial; trying to save energy so we’re less dependent on foreign oil and are more secure at home. So I ask: Whose side are they on? Now, if we could only get anyone in either political party in an elected position to ask this most obvious question.

About JP

We're two guys who met in college, in 1980. We've stayed in touch, and like to talk politics, current events, music and religion. JP is nore liberal than Sid, but not in every way. We figure that dialogue stimulates ideas, moderates perspective, and is in general friendly. These are things we need badly in these dangerous times. The blog name is taken from a song by Bruce Cockburn.
